This made her very angry and she cursed the whole Nidhivan (forest), turning it into a dense grove. She cursed that no birds, animals, or insects would be allowed to live there after the sun goes down.
Thousands of years later, no one enters the forest after sunset to this day. It is said that any one who enters Nidhivan after nightfall meets a mysterious fate. People go blind, die, or become paralyzed. No one has come out of that forest to tell the story.
Ras Leela of Nidhivan
Nidhivan is noted for the divine Ras Leela (the celestial dance of love). Locals believe that Lord Krishna, along with Radha and his gopis, come down to Nidhivan after nightfall to perform the Ras Leela. It is also said that anyone who witnesses this event, goes mad and loses consciousness.Therefore, the doors to the forest are locked to make sure no one enters after dark. The doors are unlocked only in the morning.
